The two friends, Morten Kaltoft and Emil Alsbo, opened their first restaurant, Osteria 16, in Vesterbro, Copenhagen, in 2014. Their simple but flavourful modern Italian family-style dishes were an immediate success, and they later also opened the restaurants Spaghetteria, Osteria 16 Ravnsborggade and Osteria 16 Pesce. For the cookbook "Osteria 16" they have chosen 80 dishes that show the range and quality of the food at their restaurants. Their recipes show how a few high-quality ingredients and careful preparation can easily create flavourful, unpretentious meals.
Morten Kaltoft trained as a chef at Era Ora and helped open Famo 51 and Famo Metro.
Emil Alsbo is an artist who has exhibited at venues including Charlottenborg, Traneudstillingen and Overgaden, and has sold works to the Danish Arts Foundation.
