Beautiful hand-thrown and hand-painted ceramic plate from Horezu. Painted using traditional Romanian methods, which are listed as part of UNESCO's World Heritage.
The motif was created by Simone Thorup Eriksen.

Once the ceramic is finished being shaped, it is hand-painted and multiple layers of paint are applied, creating beautiful, unique decorations.
After the first firing at 850-950 degrees, the ceramic is glazed with a water-based glaze. It then dries and is fired a second time at 1000-1100 degrees.
The ceramics were originally used as decoration, e.g., for hanging on the wall. There is a small hole for hanging on the back of the plate.
The ceramics can also be used for table settings and are food-safe. We recommend washing it by hand to prolong its durability.
The interaction between the clay and the many layers of paint can create small crack-like lines. These are not to be considered defects but are normal to encounter in this type of ceramic.
