Beautiful hand-thrown and hand-painted ceramic plate from Horezu. Painted using a traditional Romanian method, which is recognized as part of UNESCO's world heritage.
19-22Ø
Once the pottery is shaped, it is hand-painted and multiple layers of paint are applied, resulting in beautiful, unique decorations.
After the first firing at 850-950 degrees, the pottery is glazed with a water-based glaze. It is then left to dry and fired a second time at 1000-1100 degrees.
The pottery is originally intended as decoration, e.g., to hang on the wall. There is a small hole for hanging on the back of the plate.
The pottery can also be used for table settings and is food-safe. We recommend washing it by hand to extend its durability.
The meeting of clay and the many layers of color can create small crack-like lines. These are not to be considered defects, but are normal to encounter in this type of pottery.
