Beautiful hand-thrown and hand-painted ceramic plate from Horezu. Painted using a traditional Romanian method, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Once the pottery is modeled, it is hand-painted and multiple layers of paint are applied, creating beautiful, unique decorations.

After the first firing at 850-950 degrees, the pottery is glazed with water-based glaze. It then dries and is fired a second time at 1000-1100 degrees.
The pottery was originally used as decoration, for example, to hang on the wall. There is a small hole for hanging on the back of the plate.
The pottery can also be used for table setting and is food-safe. We recommend washing it by hand to extend its durability.
The interaction between the clay and the many layers of color can create small crack-like lines. These are not to be considered defects but are normal to encounter in this type of pottery.
