A young woman moves to West Jutland, and the questions arise. How do you talk to your grocer? Can you stop the world's folly through an advice column? What do West Jutlanders think about in the pauses between their sentences? How do you fold a stroller? Why are the folk high school students so happy, and what do they want in Velling?
The Land of Short Sentences is a humorous and loving novel about a young woman who moves to West Jutland and has to find her way in folk high school life and the West Jutland way of conversing, while also finding her way into the role of new parent and oracle in the local newspaper's advice column. A demanding exercise for someone who moves through life bubbling, boisterous and outspoken (and writes rallying songs on the sly).
