Interlude

Apart from being brothers, Peter and Ivan Koubek don't have much in common at first glance. Peter is a thirty-something Dublin lawyer – seemingly successful and competent. But in the wake of his father's death, he medicates himself to sleep and struggles to deal with his relationships with two very different women – the love of his life, Sylvia, and Naomi, a university student for whom life is one long joke. Ivan is a twenty-two-year-old chess player. He has always seen himself as socially awkward, a loner, the antithesis of his smooth older brother. In the midst of his grieving process, Ivan meets Margaret, an older woman with a turbulent past of her own, and their lives quickly and intensely become intertwined. For the two grieving brothers and the people around them, a new interlude emerges – a period of desire and despair, but also an opportunity to discover how much a life can hold without falling apart.
